Nadal has made this shot famous with his passing shots. Pete Sampras was another player who use the running forehand very effectively.

One of the big keys to the running forehand extreme is to use the buggy whip. Nadal has made this famous, but players before him used the buggy whip extensively on the run. It is much more natural to swing and have the racquet come up towards your head instead of coming across the body while you are performing the running forehand extreme. A lot of people try and square up to the ball as they are trying to hit it and that just throws your body off balance.
